Infracore Leverages Amazon's EC2 Cloud-Based Service as a Disaster Recovery (DR) Solution for a Major San Diego Website Provider
SAN DIEGO, June 29, 2009 - Infracore LLC, San Diego's premier IT Services provider, announced today it has developed a comprehensive, cost-effective and fully replicated standby data-center environment using Amazon's EC2 hosted solution.
Amazon’s EC2 (Elastic Compute Cloud) provides a virtual infrastructure to rapidly scale as needed. The solution designed and implemented by Infracore needed to operate independently of the existing production environment, yet provide a cost-effective environment that can scale to full production capacity in case of a disaster.
“Amazon’s service has matured over the past year to allow us to leverage their offering to meet our needs. We’re currently in the process of migrating from an out-of-state data center to the Amazon service,” said Chris Eakin, Co-Founder and Principal at Infracore. “Instead of paying for power and servers to sit idle most of the time, it makes a lot of sense to just pay for what they use - a framework that can be turned-up to full production mode as needed. A terrific cost benefit to our client.”
Infracore architected the solution from the ground up and this required a number of creative and sophisticated workarounds to the closed nature of cloud computing.
