Infracore Leverages Amazon's EC2 Cloud-Based Service as a Disaster Recovery (DR) Solution for a Major San Diego Website Provider
SAN DIEGO, June 29, 2009 - Infracore LLC, San Diego's premier IT Services provider, announced today it has developed a comprehensive, cost-effective and fully replicated standby data-center environment using Amazon's EC2 hosted solution.
Amazon’s EC2 (Elastic Compute Cloud) provides a virtual infrastructure to rapidly scale as needed. The solution designed and implemented by Infracore needed to operate independently of the existing production environment, yet provide a cost-effective environment that can scale to full production capacity in case of a disaster.
“Amazon’s service has matured over the past year to allow us to leverage their offering to meet our needs. We’re currently in the process of migrating from an out-of-state data center to the Amazon service,” said Chris Eakin, General Manager, Technology at Infracore. “Instead of paying for power and servers to sit idle most of the time, it makes a lot of sense to just pay for what they use - a framework that can be turned-up to full production mode as needed. A terrific cost benefit to our client.”
Infracore architected the solution from the ground up and this required a number of creative and sophisticated workarounds to the closed nature of cloud computing.
